The Certificate of Basic EHR Proficiency (CEOP) provides an overview and introduction to Electronic Health Records (EHRs), including access to an academic EHR to execute a hands-on workflow exercise. The program is designed for individual study, or for academic or clinical settings, giving students real-world experience with digital healthcare technology.

At the competion of this course the learner should be able to:

• Introduce the concept of electronic health records include basic terminology
• Describe the features and functions of modern electronic health records
• Identify key stakeholders in EHR operations, tech support, and operations
• Outline requirements for certification (CEHRT) and integration of EHR in the US
• Explain data security, HIPAA regulations, and patient privacy as it relates to EHR
• Discuss standard EHR workflow steps, templates, integrations, and interoperability
• Demonstrate basic EHR workflow using a data exercise
• Consider the future of electronic health records in the US
